Pesarattu is a traditional South Indian dish, specifically from Andhra Pradesh, that is similar to a dosa. It is made from green gram (moong dal) batter and is typically served as a breakfast item. 1 1/2 cup Green moong dal
3 tbsp channa dal
3 Chopped green chilies
1 Chopped onions
1 tbsp Chopped ginger
Water as required
Salt to taste
Oil for dosa
2 tbsp rice flour
1. Wash and Soak green moong dal and channa dal for 3 hours
2. After 3 hours, grind the soaked moong dal and channa dal to a smooth batter by adding some water.
3. Add salt and rice flour to the batter and mix well. Add water to get dosa batter consistency.
4. Heat the dosa tawa, and pour a ladleful of dosa batter and spread it into a dosa.
5. Sprinkle some finely chopped onions, green chilies on top of the pesarattu.
6. Drizzle a little oil or ghee around the edges and on top of the pesarattu.
7. Cook until the bottom turns golden brown and crispy.Flip the pesarattu over and cook the other side as well.
8. Remove the pesarattu from the tawa and serve hot with coconut chutney.
Pesarattu is often served with upma (a semolina-based dish) or allam chutney (ginger chutney). It can also be enjoyed with coconut chutney, tomato chutney, or even sambar.You can experiment with pesarattu by adding different ingredients to the batter, such as spinach or fenugreek leaves, to enhance its flavor and nutrition. It's a wholesome and tasty breakfast option that is loved by many in South India.
